COMPASSIONATE CARE AND QUALITY RESOURCES
About Sage Strategies
My Collaborative Approach
My approach as a double board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist is to understand that you, as a parent, know your child best. By applying my nuanced expertise, I hope to equip and empower you with the tools, resources, and education you need to make the best decisions regarding care for your family.
This is the approach I bring to my work in psychiatry consulting as well. I recognize that at the time of a patient’s referral to me, more often than not, a child’s primary care physician has a more accurate comprehension of that child’s family than I do. I always welcome more information and differing opinions from others, rather than taking a paternalistic slant that robs parents, caregivers, or other providers of their autonomy or expertise.
You may be feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by decision fatigue or the pressure to make the “right” choice when it comes to your child’s or patient’s wellness. My aim is to relieve some of that pressure by providing a safe and welcoming environment not only for your child, but also for you—one where you can breathe deeply knowing you are respected, well-informed, and free to ask questions as they arise.
Meet Your Psychiatrist
I’m Dr. Lauren Cashion—an Annapolis native, a mother, a lover of nature and matcha lattes, and a child, adolescent, and young adult psychiatrist. I utilize a trauma-informed model and incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), pharmacology, and lifestyle management in my work providing direct care and consultative services.
In my years as a mental health care provider, I have partnered with schools, mental health clinics, therapists, primary and tertiary care practices, and departments of health to bring proven, evidence-based strategies to youth in the state of Maryland.
